Countdown to Craziness

Countdown to Craziness was originally created to celebrate the- what should be a national holiday- first day of college basketball practice. Now teams can practice much earlier but it has turned into a hype session for the the team. It is now a place where the players can go have fun and where fans can enjoy watching their favorite teams "first game". The first glimpse at what the team is going to look like this year; well at least the faces.

First is the Blue white scrimmage. Each team wants to win but you also get the feel that it's like a NBA all star game. Thats what it will feel like especially this year with all the talent that Duke has. The players show off their skills and its fun to watch. Probably one of the best parts is finding the freshman on the court and finally seeing them playing for duke basketball. People finally get to see what number people are and it rekindles that college basketball passion that everybody has. It's the first look the public gets at this years team. And man every year they look like they could win the national title.

Next is the DUNK COMPETITION!! Probably one of the more fun things to watch. The challenge always is how creative can you get. Everybody seems like they have done everything you can do with a person in the air with a ball trying to put it in a hoop. But when the time comes the Duke dunk competition always pulls out something special. four years ago with Nolan Smith pulling out the Johnny Dawkins jersey and when Casey Peters did a rainbow with the basketball and Mason Plumlee caught it and dunked it. The duke education really shows in the dunk competition with thinking outside the box. This year should be exciting with all the young talent duke brought in and with Grayson Allen winning the McDonalds All American dunk contest

All in all it should be a fun event. Probably not worth the 52 bucks it will run you but if you have never experienced a duke basketball game or have never been to cameron indoor stadium this is a great opportunity for you. Im excited to see what the duke team looks like live and see what all the hype is about with the freshman and how the team is going to look.

My predictions for this game is that Quinn Cook is going to score the most points and Grayson Allen is going to get his second dunk title and when the Duke dunk competition. It should be a fun night. Hopefully drake will come and air-ball another three pointer.

The Background

Hello all. Welcome to just another Duke fan. As the title says im just another Duke fan that lives, eat, Breathes Duke sports. I think I can honestly say i'm obsessed with Duke sports in general but theres is not a diagnoses. (Maybe called Dukeculosis or something along those lines) I wanted to create this blog to share the best and worst of Duke sports. Here is some back ground on me.

I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. I lived right off campus at one point and was neighbors with the defensive player of the year in 2006, Sheldon Williams. Both of my parents went to duke graduate school and after graduate school stayed and worked close to duke. Growing up my family was privileged enough to have Duke basketball season tickets. I did not miss a home game from the 2005 season with JJ Redick and Sheldon Williams to 2014 with Jabari Parker and and Rodney Hood. (that streak ended with having to go to college) My obsession probably got started with going to games and growing up in college basketball heaven. I don't know where the obsession really started but I can not get enough of duke basketball and in general duke sports.

My hopes with this blog is to cover all big sports happenings at Duke and giving my opinion. Hopefully an opinion that people will be interested in. I talk to duke fans and I love to share my passion of sports and duke with everybody. This blog will be that outlet to share my love of duke sports with the whole world. Hope you enjoy.
